Wacky Strapyaworld Products! :P

I thought these products from www.Strapyaworld.com are pretty funny...
They might even make wacky Christmas gifts...

The Gun O'Clock

He's especially tough hugging his frilly pillow in his sleep lol.

Would you deposit your hard earned money into this?

And why does it make faces when u don't deposit anything??

They're trying to bring the Tomogachi-like concept back... Don't watch the whole video though it's boring.

I personally miss having a Tomogachi... A stick figure doesn't beat a small round cute little animal... I think my tomogachi was stolen in elementary school lol.

Are these better then Zhu Zhu pets??

There's a difference between american robo hamsters and asian robo hamsters. The asian ones look like they're meditating and the american zhu zhu pets just zoom everywhere...

I would break this...

Especially since I'm too attached to sleeping... Way too attached to sleeping.

If I was one year younger I'd have an obsession with these...

Whoops I mean ten years younger lol.

I think strapyaworld has thousands of products like these in addition to millions of cell phone straps!

Anime Peeps I Care About!

Today's "Anime Peeps I Care About!" is about Katsura Kotaro from Gintama...
Why do I care about Katsura Kotaro?? Well as you already know my Anime Peeps I Care About post can't be about the main character so that means I can't choose the well rounded wise-ass hero, Gin-san. Therefore I chose his best friend.

Katsura Kotaro is most likely the most chill person in the Gintama world. He may not be the hero or witty like Gin-san but he's also not touchy and uptight like Shinpachi. He's not hooked on love to the point of stupidness, like Kondou-san, poor Kondou-san who stood naked in snow and put onion leeks in his butt because Otae told him to (yes that is a show spoiler). He's not a glutton like Kagura.

Kondou really is a fool in love...

Who is Katsura Kotaro then?? Katsura Kotaro is a chill person, sometimes he's random, sometimes he's eccentric, sometimes he's serious... He doesn't care about what anyone thinks of him and almost has no attachments except being childhood friends with Gin-san and his subordinates in his anti-meiji-government group.
Katsura running from the meiji era cops with his friend Gin-san... Katsura is just a bit eccentric lol.

Katsura also thinks he can rap...

Katsura also has a pet named Elizabeth...

I think Elizabeth is an old man in a duck suit...

All in all Katsura is a great guy and that's because he simply doesn't care... Anything he does he'll do without being self conscious and that's why in Gintama he's the person I most care about!
He didn't even care about dressing as a girl once... To escape from the government...

Vocaloid Track of the Whenever I Feel Like It {S2} 2

[This time, we have heated rivals Megurine Luka and Hatsune Miku battling it out!]

Welcome back, Vocaloid lovers! Did you know that the amount of Vocaloid songs is pretty much unmeasurable?! Vocaloid is both the name of the group of loveable characters that go along with the voices AND the name of the program used to make Vocaloid songs. Anyone, yes even you, can make a Vocaloid song if they have the program! And since it's so popular in Japan, there's no doubt that the amount of songs is always changing. Also many songs don't get as popular as the ones I've shared with you (although I've been trying to avoid the most well-known ones).

Anyway! There's your Vocaloid fact for the day. Now, today's PV Showdown not only contains two of the best songs ever created, but also two of the saddest. The theme is "parting ways"... some of you can already guess which song fits perfectly.

Luka's song of parting is called "Wanderlast." If you were given one wish right before the world... no, galaxy... no, existence itself were to disappear, what would it be? Sitting in a pool of loneliness and despair over the news... how would you react? And if you were to send a bastion of hope out to the furthest reaches of space... what would it be?

"I will forever sing this unending song
before my end comes along..."

Megurine Luka - Wanderlast 3DPV [Piano Remix]

The world of Vocaloid was revolutionized by Hatsune Miku, right? That is what everyone wants us to think... what if no one ever used Vocaloid? What if everyone had thought Vocaloid was useless and sounded too synthetic during its beta stages and uninstalled it? Where would our adorable Miku be right now?

This song of parting is very famous for it's super-fast singing at many parts. It builds tension amazingly and is probably the saddest PVs I've seen other than Kokoro.

Hatsune Miku - The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku PV ver. 2

[There are some really amazing Choruses of this song on YouTube, and as you can imagine, they sing the really fast parts perfectly! Follow this link to see one of the best!!]

How sad this post is! But how awesome are the videos? And, which one did you like best? Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments! Here ends this installment of the {S2} segment, see you guys at the next time!

:::Tsundere Spotlight:::

Hi everyone! This TSL goes to Kirino from my favorite anime this season (so far): Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai! ("My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute!")

This star tsundere has become my favorite type of character: An otaku tsundere imouto! To me, nothing really makes me want to say "Kawaii!" any more than watching Kirino in this anime...

I seem to have a little sister moe such as Mika from Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu,

Shiori from Midori no Hibi,

and even Sunohara Mei from Clannad...

She is drawn with amazing art and has a splendid voice actor: Ayana Taketatsu! If you don't know who she is (and I didn't either until recently) she is voicing many animes this season such as MM! and The World God Only Knows! She voices Mio in MM! and the first "target," Ayumi, in T.W.G.O.K.

She possesses a very sweet personality although she is sometimes tsuntsun of course =P. She takes the shy role of a tsundere (as opposed to a change over time that is mentioned in *cough* Lucky Star's "Lucky Channel" Episode 10 *cough* which you can find right here, uploaded by me of course *cough* which was in my Top 5 Moe Girls Post--*death*)

Here's some snap-shots of her tsun-dere sides:

Tsun-:

-Dere:

Kirino is a girl who has a secret otaku hobby. So in this anime she searches for her true self--stripping away her pride and being true to her hobbies as an otaku. She is in love with anime and (ironically) little sister eroge, but for innocent and pure reasons--she just finds them really cute! I can relate... being a fan of "imouto" characters and all...

Her relationship with her brother is dramatically improved as she opens up to him and forms a tight sibling bond.

As she struggles to find friends with similar hobbies she battles the obstacles that come her way.

What will her parents think if they find out about her secret hobby? Will she be able to keep it a secret from them forever? And what will become of her old friends as she searches for new ones? You're going to have to catch Kirino in Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai! to find out! =P

That's all for today,
Thanks for reading the first installment of "Tsundere Spotlight!" ^^

Stay tuned for more,
:::Deretsun:::

A parting picture for your troubles =P:

:::New Segment:::

Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that I am creating a new segment entitled:

"Tsundere of the Month"

Q. Why am I making this segment?
A. Why, to live up to my name of course! (Dere-tsun *flip* tsun-Dere = tsundere)

In this segment I will review a tsundere girl of my choice each month and give you all the information you may need in order to understand their situations and stories when you're watching the anime/reading the manga!

So look forward to this new segment! :D

Thanks for reading! ^^
:::Deretsun:::

P.S. If you haven't read my post on the Four Tsundere Wonders, check it out here.

And on another note, if you haven't noticed already we have polls on the side bar under our archive each month, so don't forget to vote before you "navigate away"! :D... Shiyu-chan is monitoring our side bar as well--so if you leave without following and/or voting... *shakes head*...

Let me put it this way: I hope you can sleep with your eyes open!! =P

K: またね!
R: Matane!
E: See you later!

(I'll also begin these K.R.E. messages to teach you Japanese! K = Kana; R = Romaji; E = English)

Feeling Down...

We've finally found the new dawn,
But time hinders us.
It's not the future that we turned towards;
all we pursued is the past.

These relentless memories won't stop ringing;
they don't seem to forgive me.
Isn't it about time? I feel my way through.
Tears of conflict brim and roll down my tired cheeks.

I wonder when will the rain stop?
It's been so cold for a long time.
Why does the rain choose to fall on me?
Should I lose myself in it?

The rain does not know how to stop;
it continues to fall as always.
While that, in this umbrella gently held out to me,
I snuggle towards the warmth.

Jpop Video of the Night!

Aoi Hana by Color Bottle

English Lyrics
Hey, why were we born?
Hey, why did we meet?
I can't say why, and I'm scared, so please
hold my hand tightly in return

We tried escaping from a harsh reality,
but did we expect everything from an existence that's like an illusion?

These emotions of mine pushing everything around, this discord that confuses me,
as I embrace all of these, I want to advance, advance!

On a cracked hill, under a rusty sky,
We are like blue flowers, trying to live
As we nestle together, we see transient dreams, but we don't want to wither away yet!

Hey, why were we born?
Hey, why did we meet?
I can't say why, and I'm scared, so please
hold my hand tightly in return

Your hair fluttering and fragrant,
warm, lovely, flowing from your shoulder in the sun

These hands of mine, piling everything around, this smile on the absent me
I want to protect you, always, always!

The limited future in a flickering world, we are like blue flowers, trying to live
As we cry together with these petals, we want to receive and stop each others' tears!

Hey, why were we born?
Hey, why did we meet?
I can't say why and I'm scared, so please
hold my hand tightly in return

Vocaloid Track of the Whenever I Feel Like It {S2} 1

Hello Vocaloid enthusiasts! Welcome to the second revisiting of Vocaloid music videos, Vocaloid Track of the Whenever I Feel Like It, Season 2! This time around, I'm setting up this series a little differently. That's right folks, there's some substance and structure this time!

The concept...

PV SHOWDOWN!

Every time I feel like it, I'll take two vocaloid songs and have them stand to compare themselves. Great times surely await, as we hear the electric angels of Vocaloid sing with "inhuman" passion.

So for the first section, we'll be comparing a couple Miku songs that compete eachother in terms of age. The first one is a classic song, one of the first 3DPVs and probably one of the most influential songs to Vocaloid's success: Anger!

With it's futuristic feel, it's a great video for those who are being introduced to Vocaloid for the first time. The video itself is about Miku's desire to sing. The lyrics themselves, like most vocaloid songs, are very deep and can be interpreted many ways. It sounds like an amazing song that could be a great opening song for an anime!

"This voice
Even if it were to tear apart
There are still things
That I want to protect
To this crazy voice arising
I shall consign wings"

Enjoy this great video subbed by Deretsun himself! Visit our OtakuReviewers Youtube channel for more videos uploaded by Deretsun!

Hatsune Miku - Anger

The next song has been popular since it's release. This song is very stylish and it's lyrics don't make much sense taken literally, but when you look at the title, Chaining Intentions, they make a little more sense.

The PV for Chaining Intentions is a great representation of MMD and it's influence on Vocaloids. This PV was in the contest "MMD Cup 4" where people make great videos with Miku Miku Dance and showcase their talents! This colorful, brilliant, astract, and interesting PV shows how strongly the competitive spirit affects progress!

Hatsune Mike - Chaining Intention

So, which do you prefer? Leave a comment to let us know! And stick around for the next installment!

Make a clear distinction between Black and White! Shikieki Yamaxanadu! [Touhou Character Profile]

Yama. Enma. Shinigami. The first things that should come to mind is death. Believe it or not, the final boss of Touhou 9 Phantasmagoria of Flower View is Yama ... herself.

Shikieiki is the judge of the dead. In the world of Touhou she decides the fate of all spirits: whether they go to heaven, hell, the Hakugyokurou (something of a Ghost purgatory), or get reincarnated. As a boss character, her relentless flood of "Rods of Remorse" across the tiny screen given in this split-screen game are deadly.

Yamaxandadu is a combination of "Yama" and "Xanadu" or "pleasure palace." This is both her last name and appointed title. Her appearance is that of an empress. She wears mostly gold, blue and white. Her hair is green and longer on one side than the other. She always carries her "Rod of Remorse" with her, used to punish those who do not repent. She's a little on the short side and looks very tomboyish.

Her attitude is calm yet stern, determined to have everyone who reaches her repent of their sins before facing her in combat. While she is something of a lengthy lecturer, she keeps her cool and is generally portrayed as someone who looks out for the good of all.

"Hell does not exist to punish sinners.
Hell exists to ensure that no one sins."

But in the fans' eyes, Shikieiki is nothing but a loud-mouthed tsundere. She lectures so much that even ghosts try to avoid her when possible. And she's always jealous of her Shinigami subordinate, Komachi Onozuka, for her well-endowed chest. She even goes as far as attacking Komachi with the Rod of Remorse, but that is only because Komachi's always lazing around instead of doing her job properly. In fact she's very keen on telling people to do their jobs, even if their job involves more sinning!

[Typical example of Yamada at work! DANZAI!]

Touhou is filled with eccentric characters relating to Japanese mythology and culture, and Shikieiki is hardly one of the more popular ones. Play Touhou and check out all the fun characters and bullet-dodging action for yourself!

Otaku Helping Others! Part 2

For today's "Otaku Helping Others" post the subject is:
HAVING A DREAM!
Luffy: "I'M GONNA BE KING OF THE PIRATES!"

We are otaku. We watch way more anime than the average person. Even if we are busy with work or school we still find time for watching anime. Suprisingly, through all of my anime viewing I've found another meme or concept that links many anime shows and Japanese culture itself. That meme is having a dream or goal.

You might have thought, "what is my dream"? You might have thought of something that you're aspiring toward and then thought, "is my dream worth anything?" or "is my dream beautiful?". And if you're not creating bombs or other destructive material (the creating bombs part was told to me by my mentor) then the Japanese through anime and personality will tell you, "ANY DREAM IS GREAT AND BEAUTIFUL!".

Take Azuma Kamuma from "Yakitate Japan!"
Yakitate Japan is an anime about a teenage boy who aspires to be a bread creator who can create a bread that can be known as Japan's signature bread, like French bread is France's signature bread. But really? Bread? A whole anime dedicated to bread? Well the anime was so thoughtfully created that the making of the bread and the emotions of the people involved are so great that people can't stop watching it! So even if you're dream is to be a baker then you're dream is a honorable one.

What about Onizuka from "Great Teacher Onizuka"
The choice of picture aside. Onizuka aspires to be the greatest teacher in all of Japan. He's got alot of vices (being lazy, a yakuza member, a virgin, a porn watcher, etc) but he puts them all aside to chase after his dream and they don't get in his way. In fact when he's inspired by his dream he inspires his students to be better people!

Naruto is an anime where the character has, "an impossible dream". Most characters that have dreams in anime have impossible dreams. In Naruto's case he wants to be the Hokage of the Leaf Village, the title held by the strongest and most badass ninja. Naruto starts out as a class clown who's got no power at all and he's gone through alot... He's still not Hokage in the story but he certainly is a badass ninja right now in the current story.

There's many more characters like Ash Ketchum from Pokemon who wants to catch every Pokemon and/or be the best Pokemon trainer in the world. The show is more than 500 episodes long and he's still not the best Pokemon trainer yet...

For a recap, and take some notes, it's great to have a dream and the more IMPOSSIBLE the dream is the better because everything's possible with determination!

I'm a member of the penpal website Interpals and I'd casually chat with any Japanese penpal and if I so much as mention something like trying to get a degree, writing a story, or even having a small anime blog. Even if I'm like yeah man it's whatever they'll tell me, "You're dream is very great" or "You have a good dream". It always humbles me because we're all people with problems and for someone to say that to me, it shows me that anime is doing it's job there. No I was just kidding. It shows me that anyone who can inspire others whether they be asian, white, black, spanish they're truly great people. That's why I'm here to tell you to keep working on your dream no matter how big or small it is. It's your dream and that's all that matters. (And my mentor specifically said as long as you're not making bombs or destructive material, i.e. not trying to hurting others). If your dream can HELP anyone, even just yourself, DON'T GIVE UP!

This is RPGHero signing out!

Welcome to
The Otaku Reviewers

This blog, "The Otaku Reviewers", was started in February of 2010 on this very same platform, Blogger. At first, it was a venture into the informational and informal world of comics, anime, video games, and Japanese culture. In other words, just a random blog.

Over time, the founder of the blog credited with the pseudonym "RPGhero" was joined by two fellow bloggers and friends with the names "Chansu" and "Deretsun". Together the three bloggers looked up interesting Japanese culture facts, recommended new anime, talked about their own "otaku" interests, and traveled across the United States to various anime conventions.

There have been off periods when the blog ceased production of content and there have been times when there would be dozens of blog posts per week. The schedule varies depending on the lives of the people behind the alias'. However the pattern is that we always get back into the game with even newer information about Japanese culture, anime, video games, and other nerdy hobbies.

The motto of our blog is:
"A cure for your apathy and an inspiration for your dreams. ...Applies to Otaku, anime fans, J-pop junkies, and the like"

The purpose is to blog about cool stuff related solely to anime and otaku stuff. There's no other reason we're doing this.

If you like our blog, please support us in however small a way that you would like. We appreciate our readers!
