Final Fantasy XIII has broken the grounds of race. For the first time in the world of main-stream RPG there is a playable African American character.
I HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY LITTLE WHITE BOYS AND LITTLE BLACK BOYS WILL SIT DOWN AND PLAY A MAINSTREAM RPG WITH AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAIN CHARACTER!
Square-Enix have certainly broken the mold with Final Fantasy XIII.
The black guy himself has no macho qualms about having a baby chocobo as a pet, many blacks in America can learn a thing or two from this man.
Lol. As an African American, I'm happy to say that if I had a chocobo he'd spend all his time with me too.
ReplyDeleteWhy are there not more African Americans in anime? The only one I can think of besides this guy is Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop.

Yes there is a deficit of African Americans having important roles in anime and RPG.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to claim Jet Black as one of us too, because of the dub and his pivotal role.
I can think of other African Americans who've played minor roles such as in Gundam 00 and other shows... Also Gintama made a spoof using random black people as his replacement nakama (episode 138) which I look the other way and laugh because its Gintama. But in anime they're either minor or bad guys lol. I haven't seen Afro Samurai but I'd rather have something like Naruto or One Piece but with a black kid.
The solution: Make one!
Also Ryu Hosei from Mobile Suit Gundam, the first one, is a latino man... It's sad that he dies before the end of the series though...
